Audience Pleasures in American Sitcoms

Choose an American Sitcom that you really like – Don’t use the Big Bang Theory as we have studied that one in class. Create a poster illustrating the key audience pleasures in your American Sitcom.

Look at the full chart of audience pleasures, select the key ones that fit with your sitcom, cut them out and glue them onto a large sheet of sugar paper.  You are then to give specific and detailed examples from the show. 

You can also use the internet to look up key information from the show (you should be able to find episode summaries on Wikipedia or the show own website). 

Make your poster visually interesting (you can include pictures and type your answers on a computer and glue onto the paper)

You also need to answer the following question

• ·        Who are the key Characters and Stars?

• ·        Who produced the show (including the name of the production company)?

• ·        What TV channels in England has it been screened?

• ·        When was it made?

• ·        Did the sitcom win any awards?

Read through the three model answers provided below.  The first one scored 8, the second scored 11 and the final one scored 14.  Think about what made the last two answers better than the first.  What grade do you want and what lessons are you going to take from these examples?
